In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating modern CNC machinery—including CNC routers and beam saws—to craft high-quality wooden components and furniture. Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Machine Setup & Operation
Safely set up, adjust, and operate CNC woodworking machinery (CNC routers, beam saws, edgebanders, etc.) to cut, drill, shape, and finish wood products.
Perform test cuts and dry runs to ensure exact machine accuracy before starting full production runs.
2. Blueprint & Technical Interpretation
Read and accurately interpret work orders, CAD designs, schematics, and technical blueprints to meet exact product specifications.
3. Programming & Tooling
Input and fine-tune program settings, including cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut.
Select, install, inspect, and change out cutting tools, bits, inserts, and accessories tailored to specific job requirements.
4. Quality Control & Inspection
Inspect ongoing production and finished parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to ensure compliance with strict quality standards.
Flag and correct any dimensional discrepancies immediately.
5. Material & Shop Floor Management
Safely load, position, and secure raw lumber, panel products, and materials onto machinery.
Optimize cutting layouts to maximize yield and minimize material waste.
Organize, label, and stage completed parts accurately for the downstream assembly team.
6. Maintenance, Safety & Compliance
Perform routine preventive maintenance and regular cleaning on all assigned machines according to guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free workstation (5S principles).
Strictly follow all safety regulations, including proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Promptly report mechanical faults, safety concerns, or major material deviations to the shop supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: SHS / NVTI / Diploma (Carpentry/Woodworking), or equivalent technical training.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC machinery within a woodworking, cabinetry, or furniture manufacturing environment.
Technical & Mathematical Skills
Working knowledge of CNC programming; familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Alphacam, Cabinet Vision, WoodWOP) is a major plus.
Strong practical math skills, including basic geometry and unit conversions.
Demonstrated proficiency using precision measuring and layout instruments.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to lift, push, and handle heavy timber and panel materials.
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
