Role Overview

The Edge Band Operator is responsible for applying edge banding to all cabinet components with zero defects. You’ll run our automatic/through-feed edge banding machine to seal panels for kitchens, wardrobes, and custom furniture. In luxury manufacturing, the edge is the first thing a client touches — it has to be perfect every time.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor automatic edge banding machine for PVC, ABS, acrylic, veneer, and 3D/softform edge tapes from 0.4mm to 3mm

• Setup & Programming: Load correct edge material, set machine parameters for speed, temperature, glue, pressure rollers, trimming and buffing units according to job specs

• Material Prep & Loading: Receive cut panels from beam saw/CNC, check sizes, and feed panels accurately to maintain flow and avoid damage

• Quality Control: Inspect finished edges for glue voids, overhang, chipping, burn marks, and color match. Ensure corner radius and flush trimming meet luxury tolerances

• Glue & Maintenance: Monitor hot-melt glue levels, clean glue pot, perform daily cleaning of feed chains, trimmers, and buffing wheels. Report any mechanical issues

• Waste Reduction: Optimize edge tape usage and minimize material waste and rework

• Documentation: Track production output, material consumption, and log defects for continuous improvement

• Safety & Housekeeping: Follow all machine safety procedures, use PPE, and keep work area clean and organized to 5S standards

• Teamwork: Coordinate with Beam Saw, CNC, and Assembly teams to meet daily production targets Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years operating an automatic edge banding machine in furniture, kitchen, or wardrobe production.

Technical Skills

• Ability to read cutting lists and technical drawings.

• Understand different edge materials and glue types

• Attention to Detail, obsessive about clean seams, no glue lines, and perfect color matching. This is luxury — there’s no “close enough”

• Ability to troubleshoot common issues like glue starvation, tape misalignment, and trimmer adjustments

• Able to lift and maneuver panels up to 20kg and stand for full shifts

• Knowledge of workshop safety and machine guarding

• Experience with pre-milling, corner rounding, and PUR glue systems

• Experience working with high-gloss acrylic and veneer edges

• Basic mechanical skills for minor adjustment.
