THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Technician – Data Management to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, storage, analysis, and reporting of environmental data to support monitoring programs, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making. The role also ensures the integrity of environmental records and supports sustainability initiatives, audits and stakeholder reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect, verify, and manage environmental monitoring data (water, air, soil, waste, biodiversity) in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date environmental databases, spreadsheets, and GIS records for reporting and compliance tracking.
Perform data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), including validation, error checking, and reconciliation of field and laboratory results.
Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental data to support monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory and management reports.
Coordinate laboratory sample submissions, track turnaround times, and resolve analytical and QA/QC discrepancies.
Support environmental compliance monitoring by tracking permit conditions, statutory limits, and internal performance indicators.
Prepare dashboards, summaries, and trend analyses to inform management decisions and risk management.
Maintain proper documentation, filing systems, and audit-ready records for inspections, certifications, and external reviews.
Support incident investigations, corrective action tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven evidence.
Collaborate with Engineering, and other operation teams to improve monitoring systems, reporting accuracy, and digital data management processes.
Enter field data, produce weekly, monthly and monitoring reports, while contributing to annual sustainability and regulatory reporting and supporting internal audits.
Utilize GIS, spreadsheets, and environmental management systems to capture, analyze and manage, and present environmental data and information.
Maintain environmental monitoring schedules, databases, and document control systems.
Carry out daily inspections and collaborate with operational departments to ensure timely collection and reporting of environmental information.
Assist in the operation and routine monitoring of water treatment facilities as required to ensure compliance with operational and environmental standards.
Support the implementation of waste management, spill response, cyanide and hazardous chemical handling procedures, and erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Assist with environmental monitoring programs including blast monitoring, ambient air quality, noise, water quality, soil, waste, and other environmental parameters as required.
Perform any other environmental data management and monitoring and compliance-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Knowledge and experience
A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or its equivalents.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in environmental management activities, preferably in the mining or related industries.
Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Certificate from the Minerals Commission of Ghana will be an added advantage.
Ability to understand, analyze and interpret environmental data.
Knowledge of environmental permit conditions and monthly returns to regulators.
Ability to conduct environmental audits and inspections.
Experience in executing bioremediation and phytoremediation processes
Information Technology (IT) must be savvy with in-depth usage of the Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong research and statistical evaluation techniques

Must demonstrate experience and thorough understanding of environmental practices.
A strong desire to coach and develop others by sharing skills and knowledge.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use and troubleshoot environmental monitoring equipment.
Must demonstrate good communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must exhibit strong teamwork skills and the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve optimum performance.
Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license.
