JOB PURPOSE
The Medical Detailer is responsible for promoting MSI Ghana’s social marketing and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) products through provider detailing, sales activation, relationship management, product education, merchandising, and retail engagement activities.
The role drives product awareness, demand generation, sales growth, and product availability across retail outlets, pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors, healthcare providers, and community-based distribution channels while ensuring accurate product knowledge dissemination and strong stakeholder relationships.
The Medical Detailer also supports market intelligence gathering, sales performance monitoring, provider training, product visibility, and reporting activities to contribute to organizational commercial and social marketing objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Provider Detailing and Product Promotion
Detail healthcare providers, pharmacies, retail outlet personnel, and distributors on the advantages, dosage, effects, usage, and application of MSI Ghana social marketing products.
Promote Medical Abortion (MA) and other SRH-related social marketing products to public and private providers.
Distribute and explain promotional and educational materials appropriately.
Collect product orders and facilitate fulfilment through distributors or wholesalers.
Ensure providers and retailers maintain accurate knowledge of product use and application.

≥75% of providers and retail personnel demonstrate adequate product knowledge
Weekly detailing activity reports submitted on schedule
Product detailing targets achieved monthly
Increase in provider engagement and product awareness levels
Product orders and fulfilment coordination completed accurately

Sales Growth, Distribution, and Product Availability
Establish and maintain strong relationships with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, facilities, and community-based distributors.
Monitor product presence, placement, and availability across assigned outlets and provider sites.
Ensure social marketing products remain adequately stocked and visible within target outlets.
Support achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
Track and monitor sales performance, revenue generation, and distributor activities.

≥70% product availability maintained across assigned outlets
Sales and revenue reports submitted accurately and timely
Reduction in product stock-out incidents

Implement merchandising and promotional activities across retail outlets and provider locations.

Support execution of promotional campaigns and marketing activations.
Ensure promotional materials are properly displayed and utilized.

4. Market Intelligence and Reporting
Collect market intelligence, consumer feedback, and competitor information from retail and provider channels.
Monitor sales trends, customer behaviour, and market opportunities.
Prepare and maintain accurate provider and retail outlet databases.
Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales and market reports.
Develop and update sales trend analyses and product performance tracking reports.

Market feedback and competitor analyses documented accurately

Provider Training and Stakeholder Engagement
Identify potential providers for Medical Abortion and SRH product training initiatives.
Coordinate provider sensitization and bulk training activities where required.
Build positive working relationships with healthcare providers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers.
Support customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement activities.
Promote MSI Ghana’s values and professional standards during all field engagements.

Support implementation of organizational sales and operational procedures.
Perform additional operational duties assigned by the Head of Social Marketing .

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
• First Degree in Marketing, Sales Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional training in pharmaceutical sales, medical detailing, or healthcare marketing is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years post-national service experience in sales and marketing, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
Experience in customer relationship management and field sales operations.
Experience working with healthcare providers, pharmacies, distributors, or retail outlets is desirable.
Strong understanding of sales reporting, merchandising, and market analysis techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily field-based role requiring extensive travel within assigned territories.
Frequent interaction with providers, pharmacies, retailers, and distributors.
Exposure to sales targets, field operational pressures, and performance monitoring requirements.
Requires prolonged movement between retail outlets and healthcare facilities.
