UMA is seeking to employ qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions: Mine Controller

Mine Controller Position
Responsible for monitoring and coordinating underground mining activities from the Mine Control Room to support safe, efficient and continuous operations. The role ensures effective communication, tracking of personnel and equipment, and timely escalation of operational and safety issues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of all personnel and contractors entering and exiting the underground mine and monitor personnel tracking systems to ensure accountability and compliance with access procedures.
Maintain real-time personnel location information to support emergency preparedness, evacuation and rescue operations.
Monitor refuge chamber occupancy and emergency communication systems.
Immediately report and escalate safety incidents, hazards, abnormal conditions and emergency situations.
Monitor ore production, development and production advance rates, tonnes mined, ore movement and overall performance against shift, daily, weekly and monthly targets.
Monitor material handling systems, including trucks, loaders, ore passes, crushers, fill passes and remote systems, and identify production bottlenecks for timely corrective action.
Monitor the location, status, utilisation and productivity of underground mobile equipment and coordinate fleet deployment in line with operational priorities.
Track equipment downtime and communicate maintenance requirements to the relevant departments.
Monitor key equipment performance indicators, including availability, utilisation and productivity.
Capture, validate and maintain accurate data from fleet management, personnel tracking, production and mine monitoring systems.
Prepare accurate shift reports, production summaries, delay reports, dashboards and other operational reports.
Analyse operational trends, identify improvement opportunities and ensure the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and timely availability of mine control information.
Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience
At least 2 years’ experience working with computer application software: Pitram, Microsoft Excel & Power Bi for data analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of Environmental Management System relevant to UMA e.g. ISO 14001.
Good Communication and coordination skills
Good computer literacy skills especially in word-processing, spreadsheets and Data Base system.
Knowledge of Fleet Management System, GPS and equipment management, Fatigue and safety monitoring system, GMAP seismic monitoring systems.
Proficiency in mine control / fleet management systems (Pitram or similar).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data capture, validation and reporting.
Familiarity with networked control systems and operational software platforms.
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science-related discipline from a recognized university.
A minimum requirement of Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or its equivalent.
Candidate should possess a valid Ghanaian Drivers’ License preferably class C&E.
