Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is a multi-pit mining complex located on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, operating a 5.5Mtpa processing plant with expansion potential. The mine is owned by Galiano Gold Inc., a dual-listed (NYSE & TSX) mining company focused on responsible exploration, development, and operations.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Mine Geologist passionate about turning data into actionable insights and maximizing mining efficiency? Join our dynamic Mining team at the Obotan Site and play a key role in driving high-quality ore production. Where you will perform geological activities related to ore mining and GC drilling to ensure minimal dilution and ore losses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure alignment with mining production requirements to achieve short-term mining targets.

• Supervise selective mining activities in the pit and oversee grade control (GC) drilling operations.

• Design ore-mark out for mining and ore polygons for mine planning ensuring best practices

• Collaborate with other mining personnel to achieve grade, ore production, and GC targets.

• Partake in Mine to Mill Reconciliation

• Supervise and support stockpile management, providing inputs for end-of-month reporting and reconciliations.

• Oversee GC field activities, including setup, drilling, sampling, and geological logging.

• Update, manage and validate geological databases as well as QAQC.

• Generate ore polygons for mining and supervise ore extraction.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly GC plans reports.

• Monitor blasting activities (OrePro, BMT) before and after blasts.

• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Geology, Geological Engineering or related field.

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Mine geology.

• Excellent geological mapping skills.

• Experience in geological block modelling for grade control (MP3 preferred).

• Proficiency in geological and mining related software (Surpac, Micromine, AcQuire).

• Knowledge of environmental and sustainability regulations in mining.

• Understanding of open-pit mining processes.

• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license.

Skills

• Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools.

• Strong analytical skills to interpret geological and geochemical data.

• Ability to optimize ore extraction and grade control strategies.

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, technical, and analytical skills.

• Ability to adapt to new technologies and innovative mining solutions.

• Ability to apply knowledge of standards, methods, and procedures to work situation.

• Good team player in tasks involving cross-functional teams.
