Paralegal / Legal Project Coordinator

For a highly structured, deadline-driven legal professional with strong project management capability

EBL Legal office, Accra   ·   Full-time   ·   3:00 p.m.–12:00 midnight GMT (Mon–Fri)   ·   Client: Established U.S. law firm

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an exceptionally organized, highly disciplined legal professional who works with the precision and ownership of an experienced project manager. This role combines substantive paralegal support with responsibility for coordinating matters, controlling deadlines, tracking deliverables, and keeping multiple workstreams moving without details slipping through the cracks. It is a high-accountability position for someone who thrives in a structured, rules-based environment, follows established procedures consistently, communicates with confidence, and takes satisfaction in bringing order, visibility, and momentum to complex work.

This role is likely a strong fit if you naturally create systems, maintain accurate trackers, anticipate deadlines, follow through without reminders, and escalate risks before they become problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the coordination of multiple legal matters and workstreams from instruction through completion.

  • Build and maintain accurate trackers, task lists, timelines, status reports, and follow-up schedules.

  • Monitor deadlines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables; promptly flag conflicts, risks, or delays.

  • Coordinate work among attorneys, legal assistants, clients, and stakeholders, and manage docketing and scheduling for hearings, meetings, and internal deadlines.

  • Maintain complete, accurate, well-organized electronic case files in accordance with firm protocols.

  • Draft correspondence, reports, memoranda, motions, pleadings, and discovery documents, and complete case-specific legal forms accurately under attorney supervision.

  • Conduct thorough legal and factual research, present findings clearly, and support case preparation for strategy sessions, hearings, depositions, and trials.

  • Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders to obtain information, provide updates, and drive follow-up.

  • Review work against instructions, checklists, and quality standards before submission; where applicable, assign and quality-check work delegated to legal assistants.

  • Identify bottlenecks, missing information, process gaps, and risks, and recommend or initiate the appropriate next action.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.

  • Substantial project management or coordination experience, with clear evidence of managing multiple priorities, deadlines, dependencies, and stakeholders.

  • Relevant experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, legal officer, or in another professional legal-support capacity.

  • Strong written and spoken English, including professional drafting, proofreading, and document formatting.

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work within defined rules, procedures, and quality-control standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with the ability to learn legal case- and project-management systems quickly.

  • High integrity and sound judgment with confidential information, and reliable availability for the 3:00 p.m.–12:00 midnight Accra schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal project management training, certification, or professional qualification.

  • Prior experience in a law firm or supporting U.S.-based attorneys, with familiarity with U.S. legal terminology, procedures, and court systems.

  • Experience managing legal, compliance, consulting, or other professional-services projects.

  • Experience with case-management, workflow, docketing, or task-management platforms.

THE PROFESSIONAL WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Exceptionally organized and detail-focused: you structure high volumes of information and deadlines, retrieve accurate status quickly, and catch errors and risks before they reach the client or legal team.

  • A strong project operator: you plan, sequence, coordinate, monitor, and close work rather than simply recording tasks.

  • Structured and rules-based: you respect process, follow instructions precisely, and do not bypass established controls for convenience.

  • Proactive and accountable: you anticipate needs, follow through, communicate early, and take ownership of outcomes.

  • Calm, clear, and technology-ready: you manage competing priorities without sacrificing judgment, communicate concisely with attorneys and clients, and learn new systems quickly and consistently.
