Role Summary

To provide high-quality Sociology education to secondary and sixth form students, following the Cambridge International Curriculum (IGCSE & A Level). The successful candidate will develop students' understanding of social structures, institutions, cultures, and contemporary issues while fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and independent inquiry to prepare them for Cambridge assessments and higher education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Sociology lessons aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum (IGCSE & A Level).

• Prepare students to excel in Cambridge examinations through effective teaching strategies, practice assessments, and targeted revision sessions.

• Design lessons that encourage critical thinking, analysis, evaluation, and the application of sociological theories to real-world issues.

• Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.

• Maintain an inclusive, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment.

• Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback on students' academic progress.

• Encourage students to develop strong research, discussion, and essay-writing skills.

• Stay updated on current social issues and integrate relevant contemporary examples into teaching.

• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning.

• Lead or support Sociology-related enrichment activities, debates, research projects, and academic competitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, or a related field.

• A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent) is preferred.

• Experience teaching the Cambridge International Curriculum (IGCSE & A Level) is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of Sociology and the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

• Passionate about Sociology education, with a commitment to developing students' critical thinking, analytical skills, and understanding of society.
