UMAA is seeking to employ qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Survey Assistant.

This is Obuasi based Fixed Term Contract position with a competitive work roster at its operation in Obuasi. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidate.

Survey Assistant

The Survey Assistant assists the Mine Surveyor in collecting survey data, setting out mine development, maintaining survey equipment, and preparing survey records. The role contributes to accurate mine plans and compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and uphold AngloGold Ashanti values in all decisions, actions, and professional conduct.

• Allocate a minimum of 30% of time to actively support full compliance with site safety requirements and foster a culture of zero harm across all activi-ties.

• Allocate 50% of time in the field to be able to meet all survey request both underground and on surface for undue delays in supporting both operations and technical teams.

• Promote collaboration with production, technical services, and planning teams to support accurate and efficient survey activities.

• Participate in team learning, training programs, and business improvement activities to develop survey capability.

• Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date spatial inputs required for statutory underground and surface survey plans and operational decision making.

• Actively participate in coaching, knowledge sharing, and on the job development with guidance from the Survey Superintendent.

• Follow established survey guidelines, standards, and procedures to maintain data integrity and accuracy.

• Ensure all survey work aligns with site operational standards and technical governance.

• Support the implementation of survey procedures, systems, and controls as directed by the Manager Surveyor.

• Assist in completing daily and weekly underground and surface surveys to support production, development, and infrastructure requirements within the assigned block group.

• Support survey tasks related to the reconciliation process to ensure consistency between planned and actual spatial data.

• Assist in preparing daily and weekly survey updates for operational and planning teams.

• Support the maintenance of a fit for purpose Deswik Survey Master file through correct data capture, file updates, and adherence to the network file structure.

• Assist in preparing monthly reporting inputs to ensure survey data aligns with mine planning and production requirements.

• Participate in survey related business improvement initiatives aimed at improving data quality, accuracy, and turnaround time at the block level.

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.

• Completion of mine surveyor registration (or in progress) as required by the jurisdiction

• Underground and surface induction and mine site safety training certifications.

• 1 year experience in predominantly underground mining survey operations, with exposure to surface survey activities.

• Exposure to development surveys, stope surveys, reconciliation activities, and void modelling.

• Familiarity with mine planning and Deswik survey workflows is desirable.

• Awareness of underground and surface mining environments, controls, and hazard management requirements

• Proficiency in basic mine survey instruments such as Leica or Trimble equipment.

• Ability to use survey software including Deswik, AutoCAD, or equivalent, under supervision.

• Strong data handling and reporting capability, including Excel and GIS tools.

• Effective communication and task management skills.

• Valid manual driver’s licence where required by site.

• Capable of carrying and operating survey equipment over uneven terrain and confined spaces.

• Able to work underground and on surface daily and in physically demanding conditions.
