Job Summary

The Chassis Frame Straightener is responsible for inspecting, measuring, and repairing damaged vehicle chassis and frames using specialized hydraulic equipment. This role is critical to restoring heavy-duty commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses to their original manufacturer specifications, ensuring safety and structural integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Thoroughly inspect damaged vehicle chassis and frames to identify structural damage, including bends, twists, and misalignment.

• Use precision measuring tools to determine the extent and direction of the impact and assess direct, indirect, and inertia damage.

• Prepare vehicles for inspection by providing full access to damaged areas.

• Operate hydraulic and chassis straightening equipment, such as heavy-duty straightening benches and pulling towers, to straighten and restore damaged frames.

• Apply controlled force using hydraulic rams and clamps to pull or push the chassis back into alignment.

• Repair or replace damaged structural components where necessary.

• Utilize welding and cutting tools (e.g., Gas, Arc, and MIG welding) for repairs and part replacements.

• Perform wheel alignment and ensure proper chassis alignment post-repair.

• Ensure all repairs meet the manufacturer's specifications and quality standards.

• Strictly adhere to all workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Job Requirements

• Proven practical experience in vehicle body/chassis repair and straightening.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience is preferred.

• Possession of an NVTI Grade I/II, Technical/Vocational Certificate, or equivalent qualification is a strong advantage.

Skills and Abilities

• Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of vehicle structures, mechanical systems, and chassis alignment principles.

• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively operate hydraulic straightening equipment, welding tools, and grinders.

• Measurement and Problem-Solving: Strong measurement skills and the ability to read and interpret vehicle repair specifications and charts.

• Precision: High attention to detail to ensure all repairs are completed accurately.
