Job Description

A leading International development organization specialized in the promotion of  sustainable supply chains (cocoa, oil palm, soy & cotton, maize and gold) is seeking  to recruit highly skilled and results oriented persons to fill the under listed positions. The organization has its regional office in Accra, Ghana and country programmes in Mali, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria and Cameroon.  The NGO together with producer organizations, private companies, brands, communities and governments work to create initiatives for sustainable trade in which environmental and social costs of production systems are avoided. 

  • JOB TITLE: COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE - GHANA
  • REPORTING LINE: Regional Director
  • LOCATION:  Ghana

MAIN FUNCTIONS

The candidate will play a lead role in managing, directing and shaping the vision for the organization’s projects and programmes at the country level in line with established policies, principles and operating practices.  This involves ensuring compliance of all contractual l agreements with donors and partners, ensuring that all annual audits are conducted and reporting is made timely and accurately. The candidate will also be responsible for fiscal management of the country finances and delivery of high level development impacts. (This is a nationally recruited staff position)

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  1. Maintain the financial and legal integrity of the organization
  2. Lead partnership development and resource mobilization
  3. Lead the development of actionable annual plans based on the Regional Multi Annual Strategic Plan (MASP) and direct the work of the organization with sound management and development practice 
  4. Work closely with the Regional Director in identifying funding opportunities and  lead the development of concept notes and programme proposals for funding
  5. Oversee all communication and marketing of the organization in the country and promote cross country learning and knowledge sharing
  6. Ensure, track and report to the regional director on performance of programmes and projects within the context of the M&E and learning agenda of the organisation
  7. Lead policy research, dialogue and influencing by maintaining sound relationship with research, advocacy and policy experts to make selected target supply chains efficient and effective 
  8. Facilitate the convening of and participation in appropriate roundtables and platforms  
  9. Lead human resource development and management by ensuring a vibrant and efficient human capital through effective and appropriate HR policies and procedures 
  10. Any other official roles assigned by the supervisor. 

Required Skills or Experience

TECHNICAL

  • Advance degree (at least Masters) in Programme  Management, International development, Policy &  Planning  or any related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years working experience in  development with at least five (5) years proven track record in leading and managing institutions and/or development programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of programme management, information management and policy analysis at  national and international levels
  • Proven management & leadership skills and demonstrated evidence of leading teams 
  • Excellent  writing and communication skills in English (French will be an added advantage)
  • Proven financial management and analytical skills with high level of problem solving skills
  • Work experience in similar institutions (i.e. international organisations, consultancies, bilateral agencies etc.)would be an added advantage
