Chemonics International Inc. is implementing a 5-year USAID/Ghana Feed the Future Agriculture Policy Support (Ghana FtF-APS) Project. The Ghana FtF-APS project aims to increase the capacity of the government of Ghana, the private sector, and civil society organisations in evidence-based policy formation, implementation, research and advocacy and in rigorous monitoring and evaluation of agricultural programmes under the Medium Term Agriculture Sector Investment Plan. FtF-APS works closely with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), the private sector and other non-state actors (NSAs) through research, trainings, workshops, development and dissemination of policy advocacy material. 

Job Description

Chemonics International Inc. seeks the services of a short term Operations Specialist to augment its operations team.

The USAID-funded Ghana Feed the Future Agriculture Policy Support (Ghana FtF-APS) Project aims to increase the capacity of the government of Ghana, the private sector, and civil society organisations in evidence-based policy formation, implementation, research and advocacy and in rigorous monitoring and evaluation of agricultural programmes under the Medium Term Agriculture Sector Investment Plan. The Personnel will support the effective and efficient long-term management and implementation of the Ghana FtF-APS project by filling the following position: Short Term Operations Specialist

The Operations Specialist will work within the Operations and Finance Component of APSP and will lead in procurement, file management, office administration,  equipment management and related administrative duties.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support including but not limited to the management of: project procurement, cell phone service providers, internet access and IT support services, IT and office equipment vendors, furniture vendors, car services, vehicle vendors, health insurance service providers
  • Lead in the procurement of goods and services ensuring USAID and Chemonics procedures are followed.
  • Properly document and account for transactions according to USAID and Chemonics policies and procedures.
  • Formulate with the supervision and assistance of the Operations Director and apply internal office management systems and policies.  Continuously evaluate organization and the provision of services to ensure the best utilization of human and material resources.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of office equipment, building, and vehicles

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is an advantage
  • Not less than 3 years of experience in a similar position on a USAID-funded program in Ghana.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID procurement and management systems, regulations and reporting requirements;
  • Excellent writing and problem solving skills
