Job Description

World Vision Ghana (WVG) is looking for a highly qualified, proactive, motivated and resourceful person to fill the position of Risk & Compliance Manager

Job Summary

This post will plan and design appropriate tools to strategically review World Vision’s operations and support services periodically  to determine risk levels, propose strategies and systems to minimize risks and effectively track progress in the implementation of recommendations on risk reduction.

The Package

• The position is based in Accra with some level of domestic/international travels.

• The position is part of the National Risk and Audit Committee.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion the development and implementation of World Vision Ghana’s risk appetite, limits and tolerance levels.
• Develop World Vision’s risk identification and annual assessment plan, and facilitate the identification, measurement, assessment, monitoring, and control of the level of risks in World Vision Ghana.
• Ensure adequate monitoring and reporting of significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in internal control and ensure that appropriate remedial actions are taken.
• Conducts special reviews & investigations as directed by the National Director and ensure that internal controls are developed and implemented by various departments, Area Programs and Regional Offices.
• Develop a dashboard for tracking risk compliance and implementation of the organizational effectiveness and audit recommendations for Area Programs and the Head Office.
• Conduct organization-wide training and awareness sessions on internal control and risk issues.
• Establish and maintain risk awareness culture within World Vision Ghana, and provide appropriate opportunities for organizational learning, including lessons learned from previous problems, on-going communication, training and development.

Required Skills or Experience

• Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field. 
• ACCA, CA or CIMA is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the management of resources, assets; and good understanding of risk and audit management, and in developing and implementing robust internal control measures.
• Minimum 4 years of experience working in an International NGO with a strong understanding of the humanitarian operating models and development programs / approaches in both regular and relief situations.

Critical Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of risk management practices and principles
• Extensive experience in risk-based internal audit with strong knowledge and understanding of governance practices, internal control systems and ability to monitor risk management activities, internal audit and assurance practices
• Persistence and ability to overcome resistance or challenge differing perspectives with well-reasoned and logical explanations
• Strong communication skills-able to tailor communication to required audience.
• Familiarity with humanitarian quality assurance mechanisms including Sphere, Red Cross Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, Do No Harm, People in Aid Code of Good Practice.
• Demonstrated ability in monitoring and tracking compliance with policies and procedures
• Experience in audit management
• Ability to identify risk areas and prescribe measures to minimize risks
• Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
