Job Description

A reputable fast growing NGO into Health in Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions is looking for result-oriented Construction Director for employment.

Main Duties

  • Represent SIC-G in the design and construction of new projects that include full architectural and construction management services by others, including periodic site visits and involving scheduled on-site meetings with contractors and architect teams.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems of SIC-G.
  • Ensure that projects are scheduled in logical steps and the appropriate budget  and timelines are set as required to meet deadlines
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  • Responsible for assisting the Legal Department with review of tender documents and bidding process, and processing contractor’s invoices, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with the vice president of Sanford in preparing construction budget,  and work with the US team on construction matters and issues
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.
  •  Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to management, other Sanford staff, as well as other relevant stakeholders as may be required
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors as may be directed.
  • For projects that don’t involve construction management services by an architect’s team, facilitate and lead in the obtaining of bids from contractors and be responsible for supervising contractors to include verification of the contractors compliance with the city, region, municipality, and any other applicable regulations
  • Ensure that all necessary documents, permits and licenses are obtained in timely manner
  • Prepare and submit regular written and verbal reports to management on the progress of all projects

Note:

Remuneration: negotiable but very attractive.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Construction management is a senior-managerial role that requires industry and project experience. Must have good project management and people management skills
  • Graduate from a recognized university / bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field
  • Must have 7-10  years of experience in building and construction
  • Being a member of Chartered Institute of Building will be advantageous

Private practice experience will be desirable
