Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, Ghana Country Office;
Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC), commenced work in Ghana in 1996 in Tamale in the Northern Region. We currently work in 9 districts of Northern and Upper East regions covering a total of 72 communities in partnership with local NGOs.

Job Description

As a Country Office we are growing and we now have a vacancy for a Country Director in Tamale. The Country Director (CD) is CCFC’s senior representative in the country of operation and is responsible for overall leadership and ensuring the success of CCFC’s work in Ghana.  

Key result areas

  • Develop and execute strategic and operational plans and tactics, aligned with corporate strategy, vision and values.
  • Achieve organizational objectives for income growth and revenue diversification by collaborating on complex grant designs,  accessing nationally based funding sources, identifying new funding streams including the corporate sector, and ensuring grant compliance.
  • Providing direction and support to CCFC partners and holding them accountable for timely deliverables and conscientious use of resources.
  • Leading and developing a high performing Country Office team.
  • Ensuring the financial integrity and viability of the Country Office.
  • Building networks in the country of operation to enhance CCFC’s brand credibility with stakeholders in international  development, child advocacy, business community, government, bi-lateral and multi-lateral funders, and other not for profit and for profit organizations.
  • Leading the facilitation of community mobilization and capacity building efforts of CCFC partners and the communities served through networking, advocacy and awareness rising.
  • Working with the staff, manage significant, long term projects as well as managing donor relations.  

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree in a relevant development field; post-graduate degree an asset
  • Minimum ten years work experience in the development sector with at least five years in a leadership role and a proven track record in soliciting grants.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic and operational plans and related budgets, and to translate strategy into measurable, achievable tactics
  • Experience in one or more of CCFC’s key sectors: education, health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, sustainable economic growth, strengthening institutional and community organizations, disaster risk reduction. Advocacy is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of group facilitation, training, capacity-building, community mobilization and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with partnership and collaboration models to achieve sustainable development results.
  • Ability to analyze, integrate and use financial data to accurately identify and diagnose key issues and develop strategies and plans
  • Experience building relationships with development agencies, funding agencies and writing successful concept papers, grant proposals and donor reports
  • Program/project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation experience, including budgeting and reporting
  • Demonstrated commitment to CCFC’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Excellent interpersonal communications, relationship-building, conflict management
  • Ability to travel nationally and occasionally internationally.
  • English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking, networking and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet; intermediate MS Projects
