Job Description

• Reports To: Credit Manager
• Location – Head Office, Accra

Job Purpose
To supervise the activities of recovery officers and provide leadership for recovery activities across branches in a designated zone with the objective of achieving agreed recovery targets

Key Accountabilities
People Management

• Ensures that his/her team members are adequately motivated and well supervised to carry out their duties
• Training, coaching and mentoring of recovery officers on all aspects of loan monitoring and recovery

Loan Monitoring

• Conducts pre-disbursement inspection/monitoring of loan applications of high amounts and provide feedback to assist the Head Office Credit Committee (HCC) take decisions on such applications
• Conducts post-disbursement monitoring on selected loan accounts with the aim of uncovering potential signs of loan defaults and advising management to take the required steps to forestall delinquencies.
• Conducts inspection of selected collateral assets as a way of cross-checking information provided by branches

Recovery of Arrears and delinquent loans

• Initiates steps to enter into  new repayment plans with arrears customers with the aim of getting the arrears settled  in the shortest possible time
• Chairs branch arrears committees mandated to take decisions on arrears cases
• Reporting on status of delinquent loans
• Leads the recovery team to recover arrears from defaulting customers
• Confiscation and management of collateral assets
• Leads the recovery team to confiscate assets pledged for loans by delinquent customers and their guarantors after written instructions have been received from the Credit Manager/General Manager
• Ensures that confiscated collateral assets are securely kept and protected from theft, bad weather etc
• Assists in the process of valuation and auction of seized collateral assets
• Reports weekly on collateral assets confiscated and/or sold

Required Skills or Experience

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or any related field
• Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required for this Role
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in loan underwriting, loan administration, and portfolio management. 
•  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in loan recovery operations in a micro credit/SME environment
• High integrity and firm personality
• Skilled in computer software usage;
• Ability to drive and possessing of valid driver’s license shall be an advantage

• Proficient in computer applications especially Word, Power Point and Excel
• Practical loan recovery skills
• Good communication skills
