Job Description

A Turkish IT firm established in Ghana which deals in systems installations and services for small, medium and large organisations needs candidates who have progressively responsible experience in both IT installations and services.

The following are the job descriptions for interested applicants:

  1. Supervise and provide technical leadership for the applications programming and software support staff, including responsibility for hiring and evaluations. Maintain quality assurance and currency for application systems development. Perform analysis oversight during initial design and problem solving-of programming assignments. Work with users to monitor Computer Service Requests (CSR's), prioritize CSR's and assign requests to staff. Insure completed assignments meet departmental standards and that documentation is complete. Insure user training information is coordinated with user software support assistant.
  2. Maintain a general working knowledge of all applications and in-house enhancements; act as primary technical contact with software vendor in person and through Internet. Install, maintain and evaluate new releases of software; execute performance testing and tuning as required. Responsible for knowing programming and query tools; managing databases for optimum performance; and developing and adhering to procedures for control of programs and documentation. Responsible for developing and adhering to security procedures for user access to forms and tables. Supervise the technical support assistant in performing database administrator functions as needed.
  3. Responsible for overall integrity of computer systems with respect to college computer needs. Install, maintain and evaluate new releases of operating systems, compilers, utilities and communications programs. Reviews and evaluates the performance of the system hardware and system software; recommends and implements changes for performance improvement. Coordinate regular maintenance and backup of system databases and program library files with manager of systems support and networking. Serves as primary liaison with hardware vendor for maintenance of hardware and operating systems; diagnose and rectify failures. Design and implement security programs to insure data integrity.
  4. Develop and maintain a computing environment sufficient to support computing needs. Serve as a resource for employees.
  5. In collaboration with the director, provide leadership in application programming and software support management. With a commitment to collaborative management for the general welfare of the business, the manager leads the computer service request (CSR) user group which advises the department on applications programming requests.
  6. Participate in the company computing planning process. In a collaborative process with the director, provide leadership in the definition and accomplishment of department goals and objectives. Work with departments to identify areas where the computer system could aid in efficiency.
  7. Assist the director in development and administration of the department budget to insure the fiscally responsible use of funds in maintenance of the investment in computer resources and data.
  8. Encourage and administer appropriate professional development opportunities for programmer/analysts and software support assistants.
  9. Assume primary responsibility for the management of applications programming and software support staff and computing resources in accordance with local, State and Federal guidelines.
  10. Maintain a strong communication link with administrative users of applications programming services and the manager of systems support and networking to insure appropriate follow-up on service and/or support requests. Responsible for communications with the hardware vendor regarding systems maintenance and performance and with the software vendor regarding and maintenance and performance.
  11. Participate in planning and such other efforts as appropriate to keep the business and department contemporary and effective. Initiate efforts as will further the business goals and the fulfillment of the company philosophy, mission, values and vision.

Between 1-3 years of of progressively responsible experience in systems or applications programming including at least one year of experience as a database administrator and at least one year of experience as a systems programmer/manager.
