GRAPHIC DESIGNER WANTED 

We are a world class engineering firm with innovative products, solutions and services that address Africa’s unique challenges. We are looking for a highly creative graphic designer who can take conceptual ideas and create visual representations, both in print and electronic media. The ideal candidate should have expert knowledge of current design software and skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams in in the company, he/she should be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects. The successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing, with the ability to vary style and layouts depending on the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITES

The employee shall:

1. Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with the Manager and multiple teams for a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communication, newsletters, and marketing materials
2. Liaise with manager to determine company requirements, business objectives, project implementation and budget.
3. Manage budget, including invoicing, tracking project expenditures and assisting in budget development by summarizing, researching and analyzing past project expenditures
4. Organizes copy flow and maintains database/bibliographic/archival retrieval system of all references used in creation of published materials
5. Shall be in charge of departmental proposals from typesetting through to design, print and production
6. Take pictures, videos and create images that identify a product or convey a message
7. Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites
8. Integrate company values into design work in order to effectively demonstrate the nature of the company and attract customers on an ideological basis.
9. Consult with manager to ensure designs adhere to company standards, express desired ideas and represent products accurately.
10. Create visual aspects of marketing materials to produce new ideas and concepts, infographics, annual reports, artwork, books and their covers, brochures, logos, signs, stickers, tee shirts, web pages and other branding and communication materials
11. Liaise with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality.
12. Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content determining ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout
13. Manage the design and uploading process of all project material, understanding best practices for using a content management system
14. Use trend intelligence and an understanding of the current and historical business and market to design and execute specific classifications

Required Skills or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or similar discipline
• 1+ years’ experience with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.
• Proven experience with graphic design, with a strong portfolio of work
• Photography experience and proficiency with photo-editing software

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

• Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript
• Knowledge of WordPress and content management systems a plus
• Desire to continue to grow skill set with ongoing education and training
• Understanding of the printing process and specifications
• Adaptive design eye and skill
• Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
