Job Description

NORSAAC, an empowerment for change organization is seeking qualified candidates to fill the positions of Project Officers in one of its projects in Bole and West Mamprusi Districts. The project has a duration of one-year and is implementing under the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage. The overarching impact of the project is to have girls in Ghana fully enjoy their childhood free from the risk of marriage; experience healthier, safer and more empowered life transitions while in control of their own destiny, including making choices and decisions about their education, sexuality, relationship formation/marriage, and childbearing.

The project is currently being implemented in the Tolon and Kpandai Districts and has been scaled up to four other districts including West Mamprusi and Bole.

Job Summary
The Project Officers (POs) will be based in Bole and West Mamprusi and will be required to travel to Tamale at agreed periods.  The POs will report directly to the Gender and Governance Manager based at the head office in Tamale.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Implement project activities as per agreed work plan
  • Monitor project implementation against work plan
  •  Generate all project reports, incorporating data and information from the M&E Officer for review by the Gender and Governance Manager
  • Monitor Project Implementation against annual work plan
  • Monitor activities implemented by collaborating agencies
  • Keep the Gender and Governce manager advised of progress and raise issues with her that may impact on the successful outcome of the project
  • Ensure reporting timelines are complied with for all internal and donor reports
  • Facilitate and support all M&E processes of the project
  • Support the Gender and Governce Manager in dissemination of information and knowledge generated through the project widely and effectively to stakeholders including the District/ Municipal Assemblies and other decentralized departments.

Salary
Salary will be attractive based on qualification and experience

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum qualification of a first degree from a recognized university preferably in Social Science, Community Development, Education and Management Information System
  • A good knowledge in Project Management will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years post qualification in a community development project management environment
  • Relevant experience in capacity building activities and working with communities, CBOs, traditional institutions, NGOs and public sector agencies
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking ability
  • Critical thinking, creative and analytical
  • Excellent communication skills and good team player
  • Experience in facilitating linkages, relationship building and networking
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders (strong demonstrable report writing skills).
  • Ability to communicate in Gonja (required for Bole applicants) and Mampruli (for West Mamprusi Applicants)
  • Excellent facilitation, People Skills, Integrity and Resilience / Adaptation and flexibility
  • Ability to multitask and work within deadlines
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
