Total Family Health Organisation (TFHO) is an indigenous Ghanaian social marketing organization duly registered in accordance with the laws of Ghana on February 1, 2017. We work to improve the health of people living in Ghana primarily through implementation of innovative evidence-based interventions that increases access to and utilization of health products and services in a measurable and impactful way. Our key intervention areas include Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Maternal, New-born, and Child Health (RMNCH), communicable and noncommunicable diseases, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), nutrition, and malaria. We utilize our deep insight and skills in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and social marketing to promote positive social and behavior change among individuals and communities.

Job Description

I. Objectives of Assignment
Under the USAID Ghana Health Marketing Activity, TFHO is going to conduct various formative research to ensure that all interventions are evidence-based. For this reason, TFHO is seeking to recruit a Data Analyst to work with the Research Team to contribute to the implementation of formative research development agenda. 

The Analyst will support the work of the research team in establishing a set of best practice data analysis. These analyses are intended to help the TFHO team, stakeholders and donors understand what is currently happening in the intervention areas to be able to measure impact after activity implementation.

II. Scope of Work
Specifically, the Analyst will contribute to the following areas:

Qualitative Analysis
The consultant will:

  • Undertake coding of FGDs and IDIs transcripts into the NVivo software.
  • Generate thematic report based on the coding for all qualitative data collected
  • The consultant will support the team by generating summaries from key themes of coded data in NVivo software.
  • Writing out the summaries on Key themes as directed by the study lead

Quantitative Analysis
Under this, the consultant will specifically contribute to the following areas:

  • Analyze and interpret results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Implement data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets using statistical methods such as correlations, regressions, ANOVA, MANOVA, tests of assumption, non-parametric testing, factor analysis and any others as necessary.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators
  • Work with TFHO R, M&E team to prioritize business and information needs
  • Support the delivery of analytics and reporting solutions using BI/Data Visualization software.

Most of the data to analyze are of a highly confidential nature and the Analyst must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.

III. Deliverables
The Analyst will deliver his/her contributions to the following areas (under the overall leadership and in full coordination with the Research team at TFHO):

Qualitative Data Analysis:

  • Generate summaries on Key themes using NVivo or any other qualitative data analysis tool(s)
  • Prepare a report on the emerging themes of the study in conformity with the study objectives
  • Submission and acceptance by TFHO summaries of all themes from the assigned data.

Quantitative Analysis

  • Data Analysis Plan
  • Analyze the collected data, prepare and present a preliminary report
  • PowerPoint Presentation of Main Results of activity(s)
  • Draft Preliminary and Final Reports (electronic copy)
  • The final dataset containing data of each activity in SPSS or other agreed format
  • Prepare the final report incorporating any changes or recommendations made by the TFHO
  • The metadata file (data Dictionary) in electronic
  • For all of the above, the consultant will give a PowerPoint Presentation of the main results to the Technical Team, Key Oversight Management team members and any additional stakeholder

Required Skills or Experience

IV. Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Bachelor Degree in Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, or Statistics is required. 

Work Experience:
Relevant work experience as a data analyst or business data analyst

Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly skilled in research and analysis: Very strong qualitative and quantitative analytic skills; keen attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, STATA, R,  etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills: Strong knowledge of and experience with databases and data visualization tools (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Other: Demonstrated competence with using standard data software packages (MS Excel, MS Access, etc.).
  • Language

Requirements:
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
