Job Description

Our client, an international trade company is looking to hire a proactive Health and Safety Assistant with fluency in French to help with their operations in Ghana.

Role Profile

The successful candidate will organize regular work meetings, collect and summarize various information, documents and report the safety status of each branch to the superior in time, and propose and improve measures.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Assist in revising the security risk identification and evaluation of each branch, and follow up the learning and understanding of local personnel of each branch
  • Count and analyze various safety accidents, put forward preventive measures and suggestions, and follow up the implementation
  • Organize, categorize, and manage safety work files and documents.
  • Assist in formulating internal management personnel promotion plan and knowledge base, organizing learning and assessment.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety
  • Constantly walk through the production floor to ensure that safety protocols are followed by employees
  • Address any safety concerns with the H&S manager immediately
  • Inspect work area premises for hazardous elements.
  • Educate workers and employees on safety aspects.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in workplace environmental, health and safety program management.
  • Fluency in French is an advantage​

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze, judge and plan 
  • Must possess decision-making skills
  • Must be innovative with organizational coordination
  • Must possess cross-language communication skills.
  • Must be rigorous and stable, adhere to principles, serious and responsible
  • Ability to withstand higher work pressure.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage time.
  • Must be comfortable with Microsoft office packages including excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, exercising good initiative and judgment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
