Job Description

Job Summary

As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Black Buffalo International, LLC, you have the primary responsibility of planning, implementing, managing and running all the Finance activities of the Organisation, including Business Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Negotiations. Your responsibility also extends to obtaining and maintaining Investor Relations and Partnerships Compliance. 

Objective

As part of the Senior Management Team the CFO’s main objective is to ensure the long-term profitable development of the business which involves creating value for the Shareholders. 

Responsibilities
  1. Drive and be Accountable for the Continuous Profitable Development of the Organisation
  2. Empower Managers and make them independently accountable for the Financial Management of their Sectors
  3. Enforce Black Buffalo International’s Governance guidelines
  4. Impose the "External Remits" and ensure the Security of Property and People
  5. Recruit and Manage a Team in order to support the Development of the Organisation
  6. Management & Administrative Responsibilities

1. Drive and be Accountable for the Continuous Profitable Development of the Organisation

  • Set long term and short term business targets (progress report format): measurable targets (winning risk), year x (profitability of the subsidiary), 2-year commitment (conservative assumptions), fallback scenario (losing risk), from the turnover to the free cash flow 
  • Formally document the business model, the 5 key indicators that define the concept and the duplication/development criteria of the Organisation
  • Manage the Organisation's conservative rolling forecast in order to ensure that commitments are fulfilled and coordinate the implementation of the remedial action plans, and notify the relevant people in the event of any deviations.
  • Manage Risks proactively: the risks incurred are monitored, quantified and limited and the Organisation has full knowledge of the risks that it takes (winning risk compared with losing risk)
  • Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Reviews the planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Put procedures and tools in place to guarantee the Security of workflows, the reliability of financial information and the economic management of the business.

2. Empower Managers and make them independently accountable for the Financial Management of their Sectors  

  • Provide reliable accounting, business and financial information on a timely basis (in compliance with an organisation that gives each Manager a progress report that evaluates the consequences of his/her decisions) 
  • Facilitate the creation of information systems which can be used by each manager to consult their performance indicators and forecast their operations independently
  • Facilitate the creation and coordination of advanced operational indicators that can be used to better understand the trends of and reasons for the results achieved (level 3 performance indicators of the progress report)

3. Enforce Black Buffalo International’s Governance Guidelines

  • Notify the Board and the Holding Company of the business situation (monthly progress report, alerts, risks)
  • Enforce the management guidelines of the Black Buffalo International network (finance, property, etc.)
  • Reassure my Manager (the Managing Director) and the Board.
  • Monitor the compliance with the mandate and delegate authority
  • Encourage the Team to work independently by identifying the different remits 
  • Put in place the governance and decision-making bodies (investment committee, etc.) 

4. Impose the "External Remits" and ensure the Security of Property and People

  • Enforce local standards in legal, tax, company and accounting matters
  • Put in place a level of internal controls that is suited to the Organisation 
  • Check that the security rules and procedures are properly applied for property and people, and also give warning in the event of dysfunctions
  • Produce suitable, combined Financial Statements in the required timeframes

5. Recruit and Manage a Team in order to support the Development of the Organisation

  • Build a project for the Administrative and Financial team that is in line with the Organisation's Business Plan 
  • Recruit talented individuals and encourage them to take on responsibilities quickly promoting career advancement
  • Surround yourself with individuals that have the skills needed to support the long-term development of the Organisation
  • Ensure that every member of your Team implements their own plan
  • Be accountable for the business and human performance of your Team (winning team member survey)

6. Management & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Monitor Payroll through our external Financial Partners
  • Track and record activities of Service Providers & Consultants and help to close deals. 
  • Provide government liaison in the areas of: incorporation, changing to company status, formation of Foundation, clarification of fiscal requirements, importation of machinery and other supplies. 
  • Be responsible for handling all companies business documents such as business registration documents, leasehold agreements etc.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Present Finance training and mentoring to internal staff.
  • Understand Black Buffalo’s goal and purpose to continuously enhance the Organisation’s performance.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your Leaders.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or any other relevant field.
  • Must be a Certified Chartered Accountant.
  • Must speak both English and French fluently, Twi and Ewe is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent Management and Supervisory skills.
  • Excellent Analytical and Organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Database and Accounting Computer Application Systems.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Senior-Level working experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or experiences in all aspects of Operations, including Accounting, Financial Planning and Management, Procurement, Statutory Compliances, Tax Laws and Regulations and Human Resources, amongst others.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in developing and managing
  • large budgets.
  • Based in Accra with the ability to frequently travel all over Ghana and to Togo
  • Excellent Negotiation Skills
  • Proactive, Resourceful, Solutions- Oriented & Results- Oriented.
  • Able to work on own initiative and must be innovative.

  • Must be Reliable, have Integrity, Care for others and strive for Excellence

Experience

  • Five to Ten years of experience in Financial Management is Required
