Job Description

Purpose
Finance for Transformation (F4T) is VisionFund’s program to offer financial services to saving groups. There are already eight sub-Saharan African countries participating: DRC, Ghana, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. With Kenya and Senegal and potentially Mali coming on board in the next FY. Given the wide geographical coverage and the ambitious projections for scale, we would like to add a full time position to assist the roll out of the program, especially in West Africa and French speaking countries.

The position will help MFIs during the pilot and roll out of this product, focusing on West African countries, and French speaking countries (Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Rwanda and DRC). The product has already developed standards regarding product process, training materials and various guidance materials. This role will use the existing materials to support MFIs to increase their reach of savings groups. This will include capacity building, advice and the reviewing both virtually and in field visits using regular reporting data, meetings and other reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Activity #1: Support MFIs in the implementation of F4T. Activities include; capacity building, training of staff, product pilot development, product roll out support and monitoring of implementation plans.  Deliverables; Senegal and Mali submit pilot product requests, # training sessions (virtual and F2F),  # MFIs with improved annual operational plans, numbers of field staff hired in countries, and % of loans use a digital platform to fully on-board savings groups.
• Activity #2: Support MFIs in the coordination with World Vision and other NGOs who are facilitating savings group creation and are interested to partner with Visionfund.   
• Deliverables: # of MoUs with new partners and increased pipeline of possible savings groups available to finance
• Activity #3: Provide advice on how training material can be improved. Translation of existing training material into French and the development of new training material into French. Deliverables: Material in French and improved material
• Activity #4: Support Visionfund in the sharing of lessons learnt and its approach (F4T) within the wider industry and within the broader WV partnership.  Deliverables:  # webinars/blogs/videos published/participated, Lessons learnt document on each MFI at end of year.

Required Skills or Experience

• French and English speaking
• Based in one of the following countries: Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Rwanda
• Able to work for short periods in very remote/rural areas
• Able to deliver training virtually, able to travel
• Understand Savings group methodology
• Business focusedProject management experience including financial monitoring and reporting

Preferred

• Worked in an MFI
• Worked in development and livelihoods related activity for at least 3 years
