Job Description

  • Job Location: Head Office- Accra
Purpose of the Job
The job holder is responsible for all aspects of the company’s solutions. Manager researches and decides which applications can meet company goals related, also manages and instruct members of the development team to properly design and deploy applications as well as liaising with vendors to implement externally acquired applications.
Additional job duties include managing departmental budgets, tracking, and documenting application functions and addressing technical issues as they arise
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical leaders and peers’ sales team to develop business strategy.
  • Manager performance goals and business needs of the organization.
  • Plan, define and review projects for proper implementation and migration to Production mode.
  • Plan, develop and implement new systems and ensure proper functioning of existing systems.
  • Resolve any issues and take preventive actions and maintain project logs, documents and status reports.
  • Evaluate performance of team members, provide feedbacks and prepare appraisals.
  • Coordinate with management in developing long term plans for application development.
  • Collaborate with application management on defining project objectives, resource planning, allocation and support for projects.
  • Work with Information technology managers to ensure system compatibility across the company.
  • Lead and participate in all phases of application development lifecycle.
  • Ensure that expenses are within budget limits as per company standards.
  • Ensure implementation of company procedures and policies and act as a medium of communication between Business and Technical Team.
  • Manage cost and quality improvement activities by implementing new effective processes.
  • Communicate with internal customers regularly and build a strong relationship and manage escalations and provide better customer support services.
  • Collaborating with management, departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications
  • Designing algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systems
  • Compiling and assessing user feedback to improve application performance
  • Ensure secure coding is embedded at every stage of the development cycle
  • Ensure application delivered places Brassica at the top of the competition
  • Ensure application security conforms to Brassica's Security, Compliance and Audit policy
  • Ensure effective/efficient turnaround time concerning application launch
  • Work closely with the R&D Team to determine expected functionality for a specific product
  • Ensure Brassica adapts to new innovative ways of developing solutions to drive the company’s strategic goals

Required Skills or Experience

  • A post-graduate degree in FinTech business-related course is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in both client-side and server-side application development (mobile, web, webservices, etc.)
  • Proficiency in popular coding languages including but not limited to PHP, Python, Java and .net as well as frameworks or systems such as AngularJS and Git
  • Excellent knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of algorithms
  • Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks
  • Familiarity with software development frameworks (Agile frameworks preferred).
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team
  • Has good problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues and determine the cause of a plan’s success or failure
  • Keeps up to date with changes in technology that would affect new application development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Familiar with the payments, banking, FinTech industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication and people skills

  • Applications development managers must possess tremendous technical expertise in areas like applications development and have a well-rounded understanding of complex business and technical concepts.
