Job Description

Mennonite Economic Development Association (MEDA is currently implementing the five-year (2021-2026) Greater Rural Opportunity for Women 2 (GROW2) Project with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) to build on responses to the threats to food security posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Project is building on the momentum created under the GAC-funded GROW project (2012-2019) to reach a total of 40,000 smallholder women farmers and entrepreneurs, including strengthening the sustainability of results achieved for 23,368, women farmers and entrepreneurs supported under the GROW Project.

The Project will increase the economic and social empowerment of women farmers, entrepreneurs, and agribusinesses in northern Ghana through increased agricultural productivity, improved business environment and increased gender equality in families, communities, and selected value chains (soybeans, groundnuts, vegetables (dry season farming)). The Project will also broaden access to labor-saving, climate-smart technologies, affordable inputs, relevant business development services and strategic linkages between selected value chain actors. Further, the GROW2 Project will improve the capacity of local organizations to provide vital services such as agricultural and market information and support a thriving and commercially sustainable ecosystem of knowledgeable entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the Project will continue to advance good agricultural and nutritional practices to ensure year-round food security and include community-based engagement on critical issues for women economic empowerment, namely manageable workloads, and decreased gender-based violence. The Project will be implemented in selected districts of the Upper West, Northern and Savannah regions.

In January 2022, MEDA will be collecting qualitative and quantitative data from women smallholder farmers, agribusinesses (50% women-led agribusinesses), and other relevant stakeholders to establish a baseline for the project outcomes. Therefore, we seek to recruit highly skilled and motivated individuals as field enumerators for the survey. An enumerator is generally responsible for administering the survey questionnaire using a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) method. The enumerators will be working in the three northern regions of Ghana (Northern, Savanna, and Upper West Regions). This project is estimated to be for fourteen (14) days with the possibility of extension to twenty-four (24) days.
