Underground Mining Alliance Ltd. (“UMA”) is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine. 

Job Description

Underground Mine Surveyor -  2 vacancies

Key Responsibilities

1. The incumbent shall report directly to the Shift Supervisor;
2. Ensure work area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform working duties;
3. Accurately designing and marking development and production drilling holes to desired patterns;  
4. Assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control as per site requirements;
5. Preparation of monthly volume reconciliations;
6. Conduct survey pick-ups, CMS, Gyro Survey, stakeouts and other underground surveys;
7. Maintenance of survey database and equipment;
8. Liaising with all departments to ensure an effective and efficient operation;  
9. Continually implementing improvement initiatives within the survey team;
10. Comply with relevant Mines Safety and Inspection Acts and Regulations;
11. Capable of working autonomously, but equally a strong team player within the survey department.

Required Skills or Experience

1. Tertiary qualification in Geomatic Engineering
2. Minimum of 2 years’ underground mining experience in a similar position
3. Hands-on Surpac experience in an added advantage
4. Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana.
5. Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating license (C - Classes) and can drive underground.
6. Previous experience working in Hard Rock Underground Mines (with International Underground Mining experience);
7. Ability to work autonomously/independently with limited supervision;
8. Demonstrated abilities to work within a team environment with leadership abilities;
9. A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification;
10. Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers;
11. Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to achieve;
12. Ability to work  day and night rotation;
