Job Description

  • Location: Bolgatanga, Kumasi and Kade
  • Reports to: Certification Director and Regional Coordinator
  • Languages: English, Twi, Frafra depending on location

Job Summary

The Field officer is responsible for the coordination, training, monitoring and facilitation of the activities of the cooperatives in the field who are working for the interest of the company and its partner entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and facilitate the creation of groups and cooperatives of raw material collectors.
  • Assist to organize and formalize these groups or cooperatives.
  • Train the cooperatives on topics relevant to Fair Trade and Organic certification
  • Evaluate individual members of each cooperative to prepare them towards the purchase activity.
  • Participate in the purchasing operations of raw material.
  • Ensure and foster a culture of Certification excellence among the cooperatives and production team.
  • Make periodic reports to management.
  • Maintain the documents of cooperatives.
  • Maintain statistical documentation of programs, partnerships and resources developed for future community assessment and connection.
  • Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the management.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s or HND degree in Ecological Agriculture, General Agriculture Rural Development or any other relevant discipline.
  • 2 Years professional experience in a field officer role or related field, with project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Fair-for-Life and Organic Certification protocols
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills. Ability to relate to people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Computer literate and strong command of using Excel
  • Articulate and analytical with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented, collaborative, and facilitative whether working with executive leadership, peer group, or with cooperatives
  • Ability to identify, address, and solve problems with resilience, professionalism and a sense of humor
  • Proactive in taking initiative to enhance programming and services
  • Ability to speak and write in English, speak in local languages
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and statistics to develop meaningful reports
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • Willingness to work with a flexible schedule to include evenings and some weekends
  • Must be able to travel within and outside region of employment
