Job Description

A Rural Bank in the Volta Region is looking for a dynamic young professional as Finance Officer.
Reports to: Head, Finance
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure transaction records of the Bank comply with accounting systems and corporate financial policies that provide adequate reporting of the Bank’s financial position at all times.
  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation the bank's budgets and targets 
  • Prepare monthly and periodic financial and management accounts and reports for internal, statutory and regulatory requirements to Apex Bank, BOG, GRA, External Auditors, Pension Schemes, etc., in a quality and timely manner as assigned by the Head, Finance.  
  • Maintain up-to-date reconciliation statements for:

             i. ARB Apex Bank Clearing account

             ii. Other Bank Accounts

             iii. Settlement Accounts (ACH, CCC, GIP, E-Zwich, Mobile Money. etc)

             iv. Inter-branch Accounts 

             v. Payment Order accounts, etc. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date register and files for:

              i. Fixed Assets and Depreciation accounts

              ii. Various provisions and suspense accounts

              iii. Investment accounts

              iv. Stationery and other value stocks

              v. Interbank borrowing accounts, etc.

  • Assist in collating, analyzing, evaluating and reporting management information for the purpose of measuring the performance of business operations, including variances and trends
  • Ensure timely payment of all remuneration to staff and Board Members
  • Assist in the management of the treasury functions of the Bank 
  • Perform any other task(s) assigned by supervisor from time to. 

Required Skills or Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance. 
  • A certification with ICAG, ACIB or similar professional body will be an added advantage
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in similar role
  • Excellent MS Excel skills
  • Ability to work with less supervision
  • Ability to pay keen attention to details
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills
