Background
GrowthAid LBG is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization which exists to provide development support and direct services to communities to improve the situation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and contribute towards the prevention and management of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Our Vision is of a world where everyone has adequate safe water, sanitation, and hygiene on a sustained basis, and where no one dies from preventable diseases.
GrowthAid LBG, with funding from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is implementing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Health (WASH4Health) project in Schools, Healthcare Facilities and Communities within the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region. To assist with the implementation, GrowthAid LBG intends to engage the services of Contractors under GrowthAid LBG Partnership Agreement to undertake siting, drilling, construction, installation of hand and/or submersible pumps for simple and mechanized boreholes in the selected project institutions and communities. The assignment will also include the training of Area Mechanics and Pumpcare Attendants for sustainable operation and maintenance of the water system as well as carrying out analyses on pumping and water quality tests as required under GrowthAid LBG’s Water Quality Policy.
Objective
The overall objective of the WASH4Health project is to provide improved hygiene practices and increase access to safe drinking water service delivery in a sustainable manner for the prevention and management of NTDs in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.
Specific objectives
Specifically, the WASH4Health project, in part aims to:
i. Site, design, drill, construct, rehabilitate and install Afridev handpump for 1No. five-inch simple borehole in each of the six (6) schools in Sekyere East District
ii. Site, design, drill, construct and install Pedrollo submersible pump for 1No. five-inch mechanized borehole in each of the three (3) schools in Sekyere East District
iii. Train two (2) Area Mechanics and twelve (12) Pumpcare Attendants for sustainable operation and maintenance of the water system
Description of the Assignment
The assignment requires the Contractor to site, drill, construct or rehabilitate simple and mechanized borehole for schools in the Sekyere East District in order to increase water supply service delivery, improved hygiene practices to contribute to the prevention and management of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) within the district.
Scope of works
The Contractor shall, in close collaboration with GrowthAid LBG, the beneficiary institutions and communities, site, drill, construct, rehabilitate and install Afridev hand pump for up to six (6) simple boreholes in the Sekyere East District. The Contractor shall also drill, install Pedrollo submersible pump for three (3) mechanised boreholes within the same district. The Contractor shall conduct training for two (2) Area Mechanics and twelve (12) Pumpcare Attendants to ensure the water systems are operated and maintained in a sustainable manner. Details of the works are packaged in Lots and summarized in the table below.
Period of Assignment Expected Deliverables

Copies of signed borehole completion record for each location. Payment Schedule GrowthAid LBG shall make payments upon completion of deliverable set out in the terms of reference.
