Job Description

Background

We are a multi-funded local development organization delivering development interventions in Northern Ghana in a number of areas including access to quality education and health, youth skills development, livelihoods, local economic participation among others. We work with communities and development partners and relevant government agencies to improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups especially women and girls and the disabled by strengthening local structures to take local level actions to promote and ensure fairness.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual, who is committed to the development of deprived groups to join our team as the Head of Programmes, Partnerships & Policy. The post will be based in Tamale, Northern Region and the holder reports to the Executive Director

Role Summary

This position is a senior management level position and the holder of the position will drive the strategic overview of projects and partnerships portfolio to achieve our strategic aspirations through programme development, effective coordination, consolidation, technical support and guidance by ensuring a cohesive team spirit and motivation to perform

Main Responsibilities

Programme development, Quality Assurance, Learning and Reporting:

  • Support the Executive Director and the Senior Management Team to lead the development of both strategic and operational plans in accordance with strategic plan, mission, and vision.
  • Ensure quality implementation of all programmes
  • Ensure learnings are documented by the programme team in the most effective way demonstrating value for money.
  • Ensure quality and timely submission of quarterly and annual or required Programme and Project Performance Reports as per desired standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with approved Programme and Project plans.
  • Represent the organization in programme-related knowledge sharing and learning forums, document and share feedback with the team.

Networking, partnerships development and management:

  • Support Project Coordinators/Leads to strengthen networks and collaboration with Partners and Stakeholders
  • Promote active participation and leadership in relevant Networks and Alliances.
  • Support the Project Coordinators in strengthening our relationship with the strategic networks and alliances. 
  • Represent and participate in network and alliance meetings, events, and forums.
  • Lead on development of programme ideas into quality grant concepts and proposals through a community based, participatory approach.
  • Support in developing and managing relationships with donors.
  • Support and collaborate with other team members to respond to potential funding opportunities.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, development studies or other relevant qualifications
  •  A minimum of 4 years’ relevant management and technical experience for post graduate applicants and 6 years for first degree holder applicants
  • Strong knowledge and experience in budget management.
  • Experience of working in a multi funded programming and partnerships context.
  • Skills and knowledge in project planning and management, Human Rights Based Approach is desired.

Key personal and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Must be a strong team player
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
  • Skills in ICT, Microsoft Suite, internet, and the use of social media for communication
