Job Description

Description of Services
LINC is implementing the USAID-funded Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Platform activity in Ghana. This Activity will provide USAID/Ghana with expert monitoring, evaluation, and learning services for USAID/Ghana, offering high quality, demand-driven monitoring and evaluation technical assistance and analytical services to USAID/Ghana staff, implementing partners, and local country stakeholders that advance U.S. foreign policy goals and USAID’s strategic objectives in Ghana. The Deputy Chief of Party/Performance Monitoring Specialist will provide project office leadership, day-to-day management of projects and personnel, and extensive technical support to the Platform in monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities and deliverables. While supporting the Chief of Party, the Deputy Chief of Party/Performance Monitoring Specialist will focus primarily on ensuring exceptional technical delivery, including assessment and analysis of ongoing USAID activities in Ghana, and building the capacity of local staff, partners, and the Mission, its implementing partners, and its technical offices.

Position Description
The Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for filming, photographing, editing, and producing graphics, illustrations, and audio products showcasing USAID projects and activities. Filming may take place in studios, USAID Implementing Partners’ offices, during events, or at various USAID project locations in Ghana. The individual must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work quickly to meet competing deadlines, keep projects on schedule, develop a solid understanding of Agency policy and guidelines, and incorporate these into his/her work. The multimedia specialist will create content for use on the web and other mediums including but not limited to television and social media. They will design, develop, and deliver aesthetically pleasing and engaging media packages. They will collaborate with various communication teams and technical tasks to carry out their duty.

Reporting
The role will report directly to the Deputy Chief of Party/Performance Monitoring Specialist and have a close working relationship with the Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist.

Distinguishing Characteristics
Functions required of the role includes conceptualizing, developing, designing, producing, editing, and/or directing media projects; the operation, maintenance, and/or oversight of media equipment, production, and/or distribution-related activities.
This position is not intended to focus on the installation, maintenance, and repair of photographic, audio, video, lighting, and other related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Takes professional photos in a studio or on location.
  • Films, records, edits, captions, and posts live audio, video, and photos.
  • Utilizes and edits stock videos for relevant projects.
  • Creates animations and infographics for USAID projects.
  • Independently coordinates the multimedia production team’s photo projects.
  • Coordinates digitization and archiving initiatives.
  • Schedules, conducts, edits, and delivers official agency headshots.
  • Collaborates with other teams and bureaus on photo projects.
  • Develops photo campaigns for multiple purposes.
  • Coordinates photo projects and ensures accurate recording of photo information within Agency digital asset management systems.
  • Evaluates and selects photographs for publication and distribution.
  • Produces, directs, records, and edits video projects, including planning, scripting, capturing footage, and designing graphics and interactive media materials.
  • Maintains audiovisual media libraries and catalogs.
  • Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Coordinates development and distribution of audio/video metrics analysis for each project and across the multimedia production team portfolio.
  • Support event logistics, marketing, and communications to support events, roundtables, and learning exchanges with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support fellow MEL Platform and USAID Colleagues in their work related to photography , videography and document formatting
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Minimum of four years of editorial, graphics design, and audio/video production experience required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Express, and Adobe Premiere), Final Cut Pro, or similar digital audio, video, and still photo editing platforms and/or mastery of Canva or similar social media authoring tools required.
  • Experience supporting events for USAID and/or other international organizations preferred.
  • Experience in page layout, photo/video editing, type formatting, and electronic file preparation.
  • A degree/diploma in a relevant field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of graphic design, still and video photographic techniques, and production methods and procedures.
  • Skill in creating graphics and special effects and in editing photos, audio, and video.
  • Ability to design communication outreach products such as flyers to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to support USAID partners with guidance on graphic design photography and videography as and when the need arises.
  • The individual must be well-organized, a self-starter and able to work in a multicultural setting
