Job Description

The Project Officer assumes responsibility for the efficient management of the project, including the administration tasks and the provision of reports to both internal and external stakeholders as necessary. The Project Officer will collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator and Nutrition Specialist to provide assistance to the Pemcoa management team and partners in the planning, execution, evaluation, and documentation of the Nurturing Women and Children's Nutrition at Sustainable Scales Project. The position entails assisting in the creation of effective programmatic interventions, monitoring projects, generating reports, and providing guidance to partner organisations and local communities in the Nadowli-Kaleo district.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with other technical team members to identify opportunities for further strengthening of stakeholders and community services for the uptake of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive services.
  • Manage changes to project scope, project schedules and project costs in line with Pemcoa and donor guidelines and policies
  • Maintain required project documents which track project progress including filing of all project activity reports in an appropriate database
  • Closely collaborate with the Project Coordinator, Nutrition Specialist, social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) team in planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition activities and interventions.
  • Work closely with the M&E team to monitor performance against set indicators and document best practises.
  • Support technical approaches for scaling up nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive services that build on in-district or community capacity to ensure sustainability of services.
  • Support the development of training programmes in project communities.
  • Provide timely reports, documents, and proposals, as requested.
  • Support the development of technical resource materials, including guidelines, training manuals, and curricula, as necessary.
  • Provide support for donor reporting on quarterly and annual basis
  • Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the Executive Director, Nutrition Specialist and/or the Project Coordinator 

Required Skills or Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in development studies, Social Policy, Public Health, Economics or other relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Familiarity with project cycle management approaches and tools - including participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects
  • Significant experiences in learning methodologies
  • Demonstrated experiences in partnerships development and management
  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data and generate reports
  • Excellent communication skills, including reporting to diverse project stakeholders
  • Ability to translate technical information into practical guidance and tools and effectively communicate these using print, electronic, and presentation media.

Desirable

  • Strong initiative and self-motivation are required, along with a commitment to teamwork and effectiveness within a dynamic multi-disciplinary project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and team management skills.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills and the ability to write for a range of audiences and purposes, including superior presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and outside of conventional office environments, if needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are required.

Mandatory

  • Familiarity with the local context, specifically in the Nadowli-Kaleo district and its communities, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in speaking the local language used in the Nadowli-Kaleo District is essential.
  • Residency in the district is a requirement for this position.
