Job Description

MSI RCL Ghana has a vacancy for a passion driven, well-organized, client-oriented and energetic individuals with the below relevant qualifications and experience. MSI RCL Ghana’s goal is to meet the needs of the underserved and improve access to the use of Family Planning (FP) and other Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services. The Centre Midwife will be responsible for providing high quality core MSIG clinical services in the assigned centre of excellence.The post will be based in Kumasi. The duties and responsibilities presented below may change as centre activities evolve and expand with time.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership and Network Building

  • Assist to oversee the work schedules & strengths of all clinical team working within the centres.
  • Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients' special needs such as flexibility on working hours, strict privacy and confidentiality to generate demand for MSIG services
  • Have a public relations and promotional role with colleagues, GHS and the general public
  • Identify appropriate training needs within centre teams and, in consultation with the Centre Manager, arrange for appropriate trainings and induction of new teams
  • Timely collate and submit incidence reports to the centre manager
  • Monitor monthly centre results and in collaboration with the Centre Manager make appropriate recommendations to meet set targets

Centre Midwifery duties

  • Provide core and non-core MSIG Clinical services including but not limited to: IUCD, Implant insertion, MSP and MSMP
  • Assist with all clinical trainings at the center level
  • Professional management of client complaints and/or clinical incidences in the centre
  • Ensure adequate and timely requisition of items, stock management and record keeping
  • Ensure Centre and its surroundings are kept tidy, net and clean at all times
  • Promote and maintain a welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient atmosphere towards all clients in the centre to ensure client satisfaction at all times
  • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the Centre Manager

Communication and Administration

  • Keep and manage records of all centre activities including minutes of centre teams meetings
  • Ensure formal communications with the various health partners are properly documented
  • Follow up on all client’s complaints relating to any of the MSIG services and make recommendations
  • Make proper use of available information systems in MSI to facilitate service delivery & trainings
  • Assist the Marketing Team with interviews relating to clinical issues to protect MSIG reputation
  • Manage and properly account for all MSIG resources and properties in the centre

Required Skills or Experience

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Must be registered with a recognized local clinical professional body in Ghana and of good standing
  • Must have a recognized clinical qualification in Midwifery
  • Must have requisite experience to work with minimum supervision
  • At least 2- year post-graduation experience in a Midwifery position
  • A commercial mindset to grow clinics and meet set targets
  • Experience of working in Sexual and Reproductive Health
  • Excellent provider-client interaction skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Work experience with Ghana Health Service and/or an INGO
  • Articulate and analytical with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of health delivery system in Ghana
  • Must be multi-skilled and passionate about maternal health
  • Must have requisite experience to work with minimum supervision
  • Sympathetic to women and men seeking Family Planning and Reproductive Health services
  • Be able to work on own initiative and at longer periods
  • Customer focused with good interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels – government, donor and community
  • Motivates team members to deliver high quality service and results
  • Team player, self-motivator and able to motivate others to achieve results
