Job Overview

The Construction Site Foreman plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the construction project is executed efficiently, safely, and within the designated timeframes. The Foreman will oversee daily operations on the construction site, manage the workforce, coordinate with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily site operations and activities.
  • Ensure work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and the project requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to workers as needed.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work schedules, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to align project timelines and milestones.
  • Adjust schedules and work plans as needed to accommodate changes or delays.
  • Ensure that all work is performed to the highest quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of work performed.
  • Identify and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures on-site.
  • Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks with the workforce.
  • Ensure all personnel are equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor and manage the use of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively to minimize waste.
  • Coordinate the delivery and storage of materials.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports on-site activities.
  • Identify potential issues or delays and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Resolve any on-site conflicts or disputes promptly and professionally.
  • Provide technical assistance and support as needed.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree in construction management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Ability to operate construction tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Relevant construction certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the construction site for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and materials as needed.

Work Environment:

The Construction Site Foreman will primarily work on-site at the construction project location. The role requires frequent interaction with construction workers, subcontractors, and project managers. The Foreman must adhere to strict safety protocols and be prepared to address any emergencies or issues that arise on-site.
