Job Description

The prime role of the Head of the Department is to provide strong academic focus and leadership. The Head of Department (HoD) is accountable to the Dean for the strategic and operational management of the department. He is responsible for all staff in the department, with a particular focus on leading the academic staff.

Job Functions
The HoD’s main duties and responsibilities shall include the following:

  • The Head of Department is required to lead, manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities.
  • Maintain the general discipline of the students and staff of the Department.
  • To oversee the smooth functioning of the department and ensuring consistent provision for academic ambiance.
  • To manage and motivate all departmental staff, to enable the students to receive skilled education in the subject, in a positive, encouraging, and effective working environment.
  • To ensure the development of the Curriculum to keep up to date with relevant changes and to encourage a wide range of activities to learn the subject with practical skill.
  • Responsible for designing the regulations, curriculum, and syllabi.
  • To attend meetings when required by Senior Management


Required Skills or Experience

  • The ideal candidate for the position of HoD, will be required to demonstrate high qualities of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in his/her area of specialization and must:
  • Possess a minimum of PhD in Business Administration or closely related academic field.
  • Be of a senior lectureship rank or qualified to be a senior lecturer at the time of appointment.
  • Have some professional experience in the specific area.
  • Have demonstrated potential and interest to conduct research and to excel in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Teaching experience in a reputable University or comparable institution would be an added advantage.

Terms of Appointment

  • The appointment shall be full-time.
  • Salary and conditions of service attached to the position is very attractive
