Job Description

The Business Development Manager at the university will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities, establishing strategic partnerships, and enhancing the university's market presence.

Job functions
The Business Development Manager’s main duties and responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Identify and research potential business opportunities and partnerships that align with the university's strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to generate revenue and enhance the university's brand presence in the higher education sector.
  • Cultivate relationships with corporate partners, industry leaders, government agencies, and other stakeholders to explore collaboration opportunities.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, to identify synergies and develop joint initiatives.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform decision-making and strategy formulation.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on business development activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Stay informed about relevant policies, regulations, and funding opportunities in the higher education sector.
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities, government funding, and other sources of financial support to supplement the university's budget.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities relevant to the university's mission and strategic objectives.

 

Required Skills or Experience

The candidate must have:

  • Master's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of business principles, market analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant business development software.
  • Knowledge of higher education landscape and funding mechanisms is advantageous.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying and pursuing business opportunities, preferably in a university or academic setting.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners, donors, or other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, financial analysis, and grant writing.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role may be beneficial.
  • Have some professional experience in the specific area.

Terms of Appointment

  • The appointment shall be full-time.
