Job Summary
The Senior Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire inventory management process, including the financial aspects, for our organisation. This role demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in inventory management and finance operations. The Senior Inventory Manager will ensure optimal inventory levels, accurate financial reporting, and efficient supply chain processes to meet the company’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Oversee and manage all inventory levels across multiple locations, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet customer demand without excess.
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure the accuracy of inventory records, including regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
- Monitor inventory ageing, turnover rates, and obsolescence, and develop strategies to minimise waste and optimise asset utilisation.
Financial Operations:
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate inventory valuation, including costing and pricing strategies.
- Prepare and analyse inventory-related financial reports, including inventory forecasts, budget variances, and cost analyses.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies related to inventory management, including SOX compliance and GAAP adherence.
Supply Chain Optimization:
- Work closely with the procurement, logistics, and production teams to streamline supply chain operations and reduce lead times.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent supply and negotiate favourable terms.
- Implement and manage inventory management software systems, ensuring accurate data entry, and tracking.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and mentor the inventory management team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to align inventory management strategies with overall business objectives.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in inventory management and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that inventory storage conditions are safe and meet industry standards to prevent loss or damage.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in inventory management and finance operations.
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy.
Required Skills or Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CMA) are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory management, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic decisions.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial and inventory management software.
