Job Description

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets and financial projections, managing relationships with financial institutions, and ensuring compliance with local financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a trading or import-based company and possess a strong understanding of import processes and banking procedures in Ghana.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate bookkeeping records for all business activities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Develop and monitor budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
• Liaise with banks regarding trade finance, letters of credit, and overdraft facilities.
• Ensure proper documentation and accounting for all import transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure timely payment of invoices and taxes.
• Assist in the preparation of audit materials and liaise with auditors.
• Ensure compliance with all GRA and statutory financial requirements.
• Provide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making.

Required Skills or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a trading/import business.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Familiarity with Ghanaian import regulations and procedures.
