- REPORT TO: Executive Chef
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to assist in leading our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside our Executive Chef in crafting innovative menus and delivering extraordinary dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring adherence to luxury culinary standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in advanced cooking techniques, plating aesthetics, and food safety protocols.
- Maintain impeccable food presentation, temperature control, and portion consistency.
- Ensure all dishes meet the highest quality standards before leaving the kitchen.
- Collaborate on the development and execution of tasting menus and chef’s table experiences.
- Oversee inventory management of premium ingredients, specialty items, and rare wines.
- Enforce strict hygiene and sanitation standards in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist in menu planning and seasonal updates, incorporating current culinary trends.
- Coordinate with the Food and Beverage team to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Resolve kitchen-related guest concerns with professionalism and creativity.
- Supervise food preparation for banquets, weddings, and galas, ensuring timely execution.
- Conduct regular inspections of food storage areas to ensure freshness and proper rotation.
- Participate in hiring and training new kitchen staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, motivating the team to excel.
- Assist in controlling food costs and minimizing waste without compromising quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor offerings to innovate and elevate our culinary program.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a high-end culinary establishment.
- Aspirants in the sous chef role are encouraged to apply. With or without experience.
- Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of fine dining techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Creativity and passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Degree/Diploma/Certificate required.
