A reputable organization in the importation of high-quality cleaning chemicals/detergents intends to build its own plant in Accra and seeks qualified and experienced chemists to join the team. We have an immediate opening for two experienced and detail–oriented Quality Control Chemist.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for sampling and testing raw materials, products in mid-production, and finished products.
• On a daily basis, will evaluate raw materials that arrive to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications.
• While products are in production, you will select random samples to ensure quality is maintained throughout the process.
• Once the finished products come off the floor, you will be responsible for cleaning and storing tools and equipment and documenting all of your tests properly.
• Organise raw materials, and test products before, during, and after production.
• Coordinate waste management.
• Follow all company and governmental safety procedures
• Clean, maintain, and store tests and findings
• Oversees GMP-compliant laboratory testing operations
• Compliance with all analytical laboratory and all relevant site-wide procedures and practices e.g. provide testing evaluation of raw materials, bulk, and filled samples based on specifications and standards.
• Develop test procedures and methods to support developmental and operational testing
• Designing and conducting bench–scale, and pilot–scale laboratory experiments, including the development of test protocols and Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)
• Lead technical / process chemistry support and improvement initiatives in all chemical process plants interface with cross-functional disciplines/resources
• Creation and or approval of item masters for data collection in the quality data system
• Communicate to the appropriate organizations to suppliers the status of raw, finished, and processed ingredients and microbiological analyses

Required Skills or Experience

• Bachelor degree in chemistry or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing lab/ quality Control
• Knowledge of analytical testing techniques such as FTIR and UV-VIS
• Able to write extensive reports on lab results
• Knowledge of government regulations and safety protocols

Desired experience for chemist includes:

• Perform finished stock evaluations( when applicable, line start-ups, line prep release, branch inspections, and CM Samples
• Maintain standard samples of raw ingredients, perfume oil, and finished ingredients
• Handle collection and disposal of waste solvents generated by the lab in processing in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements
• Perform sampling of incoming ingredients as applicable
• Perform aesthetic, dimensional, and physical inspections and any tests on each lot/receipt of the CM samples
• Train new employees on all relevant inspection processes and the quality data system.
