Job Description

A company is looking for an experienced Accounts Officer to help us keep growing.  We are in need of an Account officer to keep up-to-date account records and oversee smooth transactions with clients. The candidate should be able to interpret financial information to aid in the decision making of management.  The ideal candidate should be able to manage the financial data of the company by developing, implementing and maintaining the financial data bases as well as establishing and monitoring control procedures. The ideal candidate should be a team player, enjoy working with a variety of clients, and have knowledge of basic accounting functions. We also value those who are ready to learn and adapt with a fast-paced work environment. 
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
  • Manage account financial activities including billings, payments, receivables, invoicing, etc.
  • Suggest ways to reduce costs, enhance revenues and improve profits
  • Utilize database software to organize financial account information
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Undertaking financial administration and internal audits
  • Developing and managing financial systems/policies
  • Negotiating and obtaining finance for major projects
  • Controlling and forecasting income and expenditure
  • Creating business strategies to generate shareholder value
  • Handle account inquiries from internal and external sources
  • Make regular contact with clients to ensure payment
  • Review both incoming and outgoing invoices
  • Managing and ensuring tax obligations are met
  • Generate financial reports for review regulatory authorities
  • Analyze financial data to resolve certain discrepancies and irregularities that may arise.
  • Develop efficient resources and procedures, while providing strategic recommendations for specific financial problems or situations.
  • Provide advice on business operations issues, such as revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenue expectations.
  • Prepare financial statements that may include monthly and annual accounts based upon the financial information that is compiled and analyzed. 
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with lawful and accepted procedures and policies on the corporate level. 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications
  • HND/ Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • Familiarity with productivity tools, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using accounting software, such as Quickbooks and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Quick to collaborate and coordinate with team members when necessary
  • Have financial or management accounting background
  • Strong math and critical reasoning skills
