Job Description

AFC focuses on policy-based research, monitoring, and evaluations particularly in the field of education, gender, economic and social development. Our vision is to generate policy relevant research and high-quality consulting services in the education and development sectors to influence social change, equity, and reforms in Africa. Candidates must demonstrate their commitment and dedication for improving education systems, equity, equality and social change in Africa; the Research Manager should be a thought leader in the field of social development and education. AFC is particularly focused on research in the fields of basic education, early learning, gender equality, social inclusion, education in emergencies and development on the continent. Candidates should be resourceful, adaptable, and well organized to manage teams and work effectively under pressure.

The Research Manager Responsibilities:

  • The Research Manager will work closely with the AFC Director and senior managers in all areas of the firm’s ongoing research and consulting work.
  • He /She will be responsible for the management and technical implementation of largescale research and consulting projects across Africa.
  • Provide Leadership in research analysis, leading teams, ensuring quality control, and developing writing/implementation plans for complex multi-disciplinary research.
  • Oversee research fellows and teams to produce high quality mixed method research evidence particularly in the education, gender equality and social development arena.
  • Ensure the organisation is publishing working papers and policy briefs based on key research findings from AFCs current portfolio of projects in West Africa

Required Skills or Experience

 
  • Completed a Ph.D. or MPhil from a recognized University in Social Sciences; preferably in education, economics, sociology, development studies, and other related fields with at least 3 to 5years of research and/or consulting work experience.
  • Should have a demonstrated interest in the field of education and social development along with experience in working in deprived areas of the continent.
  • Have demonstrated qualitative and quantitative research skills, project management, team management and evaluation skills; excellent presentation, analysis and writing skills.
  • Must have exceptional organization problem-solving, team building and management skills
  • One authorized writing /Report.
