Job Description

The Projects Manager responsible for managing the technical and administrative processes related to the delivery of the organizational projects. Key responsibilities include drawing up the budget for the coming year and managing the approved budget to ensure the actual spend is within the approved limit while providing regular reports detailing the portfolio spend performance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership & Project Oversight
    • Lead, guide, and manage a team Project Engineers and coordinate electrical, civil, and steel contractors.
    • Ensure effective collaboration, performance tracking, and adherence to timelines and project specifications.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Liaise with stakeholders across MTN, Vodafone, and AirtelTigo at all levels regarding Build-to-Suit (BTS) and In-Building Projects.
    • Maintain strong communication channels with external partners, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Project Planning & Execution
    • Oversee the full project lifecycle, from acquisition through build, for Greenfield, Rooftop, Collocations, DAS, RF, and IBS solutions.
    • Monitor and control project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely execution and high ROI.
  • Budgeting & Resource Planning
    • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations.
    • Conduct financial and business case evaluations to justify investment decisions and support strategic planning.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Develop and enforce a project governance framework to ensure compliance with internal policies and OHSE regulations.
    • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and audit readiness across all projects.
  • Supply Chain & Contractor Management
    • Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to align inventory planning and manage supplier agreements and SLAs.
    • Ensure contractor performance meets technical, commercial, and safety standards.
  • Community Relations & Risk Management
    • Proactively manage and resolve community issues during site acquisition and build phases.
    • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Reporting
    • Deliver high-level project status updates and reports to executive leadership, working groups, and external stakeholders.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; MBA or PMP certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in project management within the telecoms or infrastructure industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale capital projects simultaneously.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management and vendor negotiations.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure, including towers, IBS, and fiber.
