Job Description

Objectives of the Role

Sucden has been operating sustainability programs in Ghana since 2018, where it deploys a partnership approach to sourcing certified cocoa from Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) on behalf of chocolate clients. With the advent of the EUDR regulation, Sucden Cocoa is integrating the EUDR standards into its certification schemes implemented by its partners across the supply chain. Sucden currently has a dedicated team in country to manage the sustainability programs, and is seeking EUDR Data Officers to support the effective and efficient implementation of the EUDR and traceability standards across its supply chain in Ghana. This role works closely in sourcing communities with Purchasing Clerks (PCs) and District Officers of its supplier and reports directly to the Regional Data Manager  

Tasks Related to the Role

  • Responsible for the entry of traceability data before secondary evaluation to the ports.
  • Undertakes all related digital data collection at the depots and regularly share with Sucden data team.
  • Support the implementation of EUDR and traceability related activities within the supply chain district warehouses.
  • Play a whistle blower role to the Sucden’s sustainability team on issues related to non-compliance of the EUDR and Sucden’s policy in community and district depots.
  • Supports District Officers (DOs) to ensure appropriate standard measures are in place at the depots to achieve compliance.
  • Provides sufficient guidance and support to District Officers (DOs) to properly observe all EUDR segregation protocols in warehouses.
  • Monitor and report sourcing information from depots to Sucden.
  • Implementing other activities aimed at achieving sourcing targets.

Required Skills or Experience

Skills and Expertise

  • A certificate in an agricultural-related study from a recognized institution, preferably agronomy. Other relevant studies are natural resources, statistics, environmental sciences, or similar
  • At least two years of proven experience with extension or community services related to data entry, cocoa sustainability, farm management and/or agroforestry
  • Comfortable with digital tools e.g. laptop, mobile phone and other applications
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal relationship building skills, both with internal and external colleagues. Enjoys working in and with teams
  • Ability & interest to work in the interest of farmers in cocoa growing communities
  • Excellent command of English and Twi language
  • Ability to present information in overview-style
  • Ability to work under pressure and is keen to continuously learn and improve based on season’s demands
  • Affinity with farm-level data collection technology is a plus
