Job Description

Tasks

  • Manage the assigned Community Facilitators and supervise the timely execution of their tasks as laid out in the terms of reference;
  • Liaise between the Community Facilitators, the management of the societies, Cocoa Merchants and ICI
  • Contribute to data and information collection on child labour and consolidate them;
  • Contribute, together with the Community Facilitators, to the identification of households and communities at risk of child labour, including hazardous activities;
  • Contribute to data and information collection on child labour and consolidate them;
  • Contribute to the identification of children at risk and children affected by child labour;
  • Propose prevention and support actions to be taken;
  • Collect and transmit the data necessary for the implementation of support and prevention activities to the ICI Project Manager and the relevant staff of the supplier;
  • Together with the target communities, look for potential remediation activities to address identified cases of child labour;
  • Contribute to populating databases with reliable and usable information on communities, households and child labour;
  • Assist in designing and implementing the Internal Management System (IMS) of the farmer group.
  • Train farmers on good agricultural practices, social and environmental standards.
  • Ensuring that all the relevant records are in place for both internal and external purposes.
  • Ensuring that internal inspectors understand well how to carry out effective farm checks and how to fill in the checklist.
  • Making sure that all certified farms are really inspected (at least once a year).
  • Assist district managers in the implementation of cocoa traceability system.
  • The successful candidate will be based in a District.
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by the line manager.

Required Skills or Experience

Education:
Imperatively a first degree holder in agronomy, social sciences or any related field;

Experience;

  • At least 4 years’ professional experience, of which at least 2 years in the conduct of projects or technical activities in the field of cocoa farming. Experience in activities related to the fight against child labour would be a great asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of the cocoa sector;
  • A detailed knowledge of the UTZ certified code of conduct. 
  • A good knowledge of the IMS procedures. 
  • Excellent command of the English language;
  • Good writing and synthesis skills;
  • Knowledge of current computer software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and other communication tools);
  • Good aptitude for communication and teamwork 
  • Competencies 
  • Be dynamic, have a high sense of human relations;
  • Be prepared to work effectively under pressure and show a great sense of responsibility;
  • Excellent organizational skills and be able to produce quality results within deadlines;
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating discussion and exchange of knowledge forums;
  • Good information management skills 
  • Be willing to travel frequently to the villages /settlements of the societies;
  • Be willing to stay in the villages overnight;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
  • Be able to communicate in the Akan language 

NB: The incumbent must be willing to move around with a motorcycle (relevant driving license required).
