SFMP is a 5-year (2014 - 2019) food security project, headquartered in Accra. It seeks to support the government and civil society organizations to rebuild targeted marine fisheries stocks that are a critical food souce in Ghana but current are reaching crisis level of depletion. To address this national food security issue in Ghana, SFMP supports the adoption of sustainable fishing practices and exploitation levels. The project contributes to the Government of Ghana’s fisheries development objectives as well as the US Government’s Feed the Future development objectives of poverty and hunger reduction. The project works closely with government agencies, fisheries authorities, policy makers and fisher folk in the entire coastal area of Ghana to achieve project goals. 

Job Description

  • Job Title: MSMEs/VSLA Survey Field Enumerator
  • Reports To: M&E Officer
  • Location: Western and Central regions
  • Time Frame: April 3 – April 28, 2017 (17 days short term employment)

 

Primary Responsibility
The field enumerator is primary responsible for collecting field data. They have direct contact with respondents and have a great bearing onthe quality of data collected and ultimately on the quality of data output.

These duties and responsibilities of the field enumerator are as follows:

  • Attend enumerator’s training workshop
  • Receive enumeration materials and equipment from the survey coordinator
  • Develop enumeration schedule /itinerary
  • Locate(or select ) sample members
  • Conduct interviews with respondents
  • Record responses as instructed
  • Ensure that enumerators checking is complete
  • Ensure that all questionnaires and equipment are accounted for
  • Turn over all literature and materials used in the survey to the survey coordinator
  • Write field report  

Required Skills or Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • SSS/HND/BSC qualification
  • Highly organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines and managing time effectively
  • Willing to stay and work in remote communities
  • Experience in utilizing technology tools also possess the ability to master new technology tools as required
  • Familiarity with the use of an Android tablet/iPad
  • Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player
  • Outstanding communications
  • Ability to speak one or more of the following languages, Fante, Twi, Ewe and Nzema
