Job Description

• Maintains coin-operated and card-operated clothes washing machines and dryers ranging from standard models to industrial capacity machines and keeps the equipment in operational condition by regularly checking their operational condition and evaluating the performance of each machine, trouble-shooting and repairing inoperative machines with failures that are within the capability to repair, and arranging for vendors to repair inoperative machines requiring extensive repairs.
• Provides support and assistance to residents by responding appropriately to repair situations, assessing the problem, taking the appropriate action, and following up with residents.
• Maximizes the service life of clothes washer and dryer equipment by reducing periods that the machines are not in operation and performing preventative maintenance and cleaning of machine ductwork and related equipment.
• Maintains an inventory of tools and supplies necessary for the completion of repairs and keeps tools in good repair.
• Safeguards funds by maintaining accountability for coins and paper currency removed from machines and dollar bill machine change banks, and depositing those funds in the Bursar’s Office.
• Assists with documenting the cost of maintenance, repairs, and services by keeping records of time and materials used and providing periodic status reports to the Assistant Director, Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services – Facilities and Operations.

• Contributes to the overall success of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services by performing all other duties assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

• Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.  Completion of technical school or courses in the repair of clothes washers and dryers is preferred.
• Experience: At least Seven (7) years’ experience in the repair of commercial coin-operated and card-operated clothes washers and dryers is required.
