Job Description

Principal Accountabilities

  • Identify potential institutional customers and develop and implement the commercial business plan for each institution.
  • Conduct and periodically update market research for identified industrial segments.
  • Identify the strengths of institutional business partners and their value to the So Energy bulk and retail sales network.
  • Develop a plan for each institutional client on the type of business to be developed based on the market study and in consultation with the management team of the client.
  • Supervise and prospect for and finalise supply agreements with both retail and bulk business partners.
  • Co-ordinate brand and communications activities to enhance optimum brand experience for all bulk / institutional customers within the county.
  • Develop and manage market-related brand and communication initiatives to optimise usage, consistency and cost effectiveness.
  • Supervise line reports in managing vendors who produce, supply and distribute marketing materials and ensure that stocks of materials are adequately maintained and positioned at the right place and time.
  • Ensure accurate marketing information is communicated to institutional customers and coordinate training and education of concerned individuals to support marketing initiatives.
  • Act as brand custodian for all communications to bulk and retail institutional customers and keep abreast of all major news items related to So Energy.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational contact with all creative, promotion and media agencies.
  • Carry out market research, competitor analysis and benchmarking within Regional Markets as well as monitoring competitor brand and communication initiatives.
  • Closely monitor the competitors’ activities and develop local strategies for facing the competition. Conduct market intelligence on competitor’s activities on their plans, prices, sales, etc.
  • Consistent achievement of the targeted sales volume for each Retail Outlet and maintenance of own and competitor’s retail outlets sales volumes within territory.
  • Supervise the planning, organizing and implementing innovative sales programs/strategies in defined regions/areas of TSOs to improve the RO awareness.
  • Ensure line reports maintain dedicated dealer/ distributor network for effectively accomplishing revenue estimates and thereby adding to organizational profitability.
  • Develop and maintain cordial relations with all the relevant government authorities as well as with the local Authorities.
  • Ensure and supervise consistent training and development for all retail outlet staff and pump attendants according to So Energy standards.
  • Outline realistic sales targets for each team member based on Trading Area Analysis and job role.
  • Supervise and ensure optimum product distribution to retail outlets and bulk customers by ensuring team members plan and anticipate cyclical trends
  • Supervise maintenance of daily, weekly quality records at ROs and bulk departments to monitor possible product problems
  • Oversee proper checks and safety standards are maintained, calibration of pumps, tanks etc at all retail outlets according So Energy procedures


  • Responsible for all retail and bulk client relationships.
  • Responsible for all line reports for both bulk and retail outlets.
  • Responsible for Advertising and Media relationships as it pertains to the bulk and retail institutional segment.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A good first degree (minimum 2nd Class Lower Division) in the Humanities with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. An MBA in Marketing would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Must be adept at managing several projects simultaneously whilst working to a budget and meeting deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience of dealing with external suppliers and clients, as well as proven ability to deliver creative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Events management experience would be advantageous.
