The Ghana Wildlife Society (GWS) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit-making conservation organisation
headquartered in Accra. Our mission is to conserve wildlife in all its forms for improved quality of life for all people. We
belong to BirdLife International, the world's largest nature conservation partnership of 120 autonomous NGOs around the world. Our work is firmly rooted in partnerships and rely on science that inspires positive conservation action in collaboration with communities, civil society groups, businesses, universities and government.

We recently received funding from the European Union through the project 'Savannah Integrated Biodiversity Conservation Initiative (SIBCI), to support the implementation of Sustainable Management of the Mole National Park and peripheral areas, implemented under the auspices of the European Union's PAPBio Programme which aims at sound management of large landscapes of high biodiversity value.

Job Description

The Communication Specialist will be in charge of promoting the visibility and value of SIBCI and EU funding in accordance with the visibility requirements of the European Union. The Communications Specialist will support the project management team to create, administer and organize all project communication activities in cooperation with other project staff.

Key Relationships: The Project Manager, Project Coordinator, M&E Specialist, Consultants, Executive Director, Accounts Officer, Executive Director, Consultants, Project Partners.

Responsible for: Guiding the overall monitoring and evaluation activities within the SIBCI Project and GWS.

Required Skills or Experience

• First degree in a relevant subject such as Journalism, Communication for Development (C4D) Communications, Public Relations or Marketing.

• A minimum of 2 years of proven record of developing and implementing internal communication strategies within growing organizations.
• Three years of work experience in conservation, communication for social change or public relations with at least 2 years project management experience.
