Sewerage Systems Ghana Limited (SSGL) is an engineering, construction and procurement specialist company which focuses on the provision of efficient liquid waste treatment. The Company, which is a fully Ghanaian owned company, has built two new faecal treatment plants (Lavender Hill Faecal Treatment Plant – near the Korle Lagoon and the Kotoku Faecal Treatment Plant- Adjen Kotoku) and rehabilitated the Mudor Sewerage Treatment Plant, also at James Town. The plants serve the populace of Accra, where they receive and treat, sewer and faecal sludge.

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
To ensure metal surfaces are protected from rust and corrosion by the application of the right equipment and painting system using protective anti-rust materials. The location of the plant requires regular application of anti-rust coating to prevent destruction. 

REPORTS TO:  Facility Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perfecting bodywork by repairing chips and scratches and filling with putty to attain smooth surface
• Set up equipment properly before starting work (e.g. compressors and spray gun)
• Mix materials correctly and achieve the right consistency.
• Prepare surfaces with both manual and powered tools before applying primer and subsequent coats.
• Operate sand blasting machine
• Understand and apply the right coating systems to adopt in all situations
• Apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated
• Spray surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material to the appropriate film thickness using the compressor and spray gun
• Clean grease and dirt from product, using materials, such as lacquer thinner, turpentine, soap, and water.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness of applied paints.

Required Skills or Experience

• Must have BECE/WASSCE/MSLC/NACVET
• Not less than Five (5) years working experience in a processing industry as sprayer/painter

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Demonstrated knowkedge in the use of spraying equipment
• Ability to keep working area as neat as possible
• Ability to work long hours with little or no supervision
• Understand the health implication of sprayer’s profession and show same in practice
• Ability to act as lead person in a group and supervise over a good and decent work
• Ability to manage conflict
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively with all categories of employees
